An Introduction to CSJ (aka me).
Where to start? Maybe with hello, welcome. I’ve said multiple times I love to write about everything and anything but It is a partial lie. I do not love writing about myself. I honestly, and strangely, would much rather put pen to paper to write a controversial taboo 15,000 word essay - for all the world to see - than to introduce my 22 year old self to my little blog.
OK, let me give this a go.
Like I said, I’m 22 years old and I recently graduated from university in Leeds. I got my degree in Fashion Branding with Communication at Leeds Arts University in July of 2024, It was a bittersweet ending to a journey I at one point had no instinct to how it was actually going to end.
By ‘recently’ I mean 6 months ago; since then I’ve moved back home, had the most surreal summer, got a job working at Pandora (a job I adore with my whole heart), picked up one of those boyfriend thingies everyone’s been talking about since I came out the womb… Long story short; here I am.
For some more character context; I’m currently living in Hull (a city I’ve rather rapidly come to despise, but that’s a conversation for another day) but I was born in Leicester and grew up in Barcelona. Yes, I speak fluent Spanish and no, I no longer remember Catalan (It is unsurprisingly a language nobody outside of Catalonia speaks!). My immigrant parents have graced me with such a multicultural background - I think it’s part of the reason I adore writing so much. Communication, whether through different languages or not, has always been a huge part of my life. I’ve always channelled communication through different mediums; through fashion, through makeup, through interior design (aka redecorating my room whenever I had a minor identity crisis), through reading and more… At the core of all my passions, lies communication.
In the hopes of being raw and honest, this blog has been in the works for a ridiculous amount of time. I knew I wanted to start a blog whilst I was still at university; but between submissions, graduation and life… I just couldn’t find the time. But with the new year comes resolutions; and one of mine is to get my life in order. This doesn’t mean to make my life ‘perfect’, adopt the clean girl aesthetic or to go on a crazy diet and get in a toxic relationship with the gym… It means to put things into action…And I’m starting with writing.
Hellocsj.com will be home to anything & everything that comes in the form of writing. From poetry, to opinion pieces to well articulated rants! I know with certainty that writing has been and will always be, a monumental part of my life. I would love for it to channel its existence through a career in writing, but for now I’m more than happy for it to simply exist. So, stay tuned.
